Use this article to understand, at a high level, what costs money in DealMachine and what's free — so you can work without surprises. For the full mechanics and examples, see How data credits work in the Credits & Billing collection.
Browsing DealMachine data is free
Viewing properties, owner names, contact profiles, and search results in DealMachine costs nothing. You can prospect, filter, and read records all day without spending anything. Money only comes into play when you reveal contact details, export data, or send mail.
Revealing and exporting spend data credits
Data credits are the currency DealMachine uses to get contact and property data out of the platform. Two actions spend them:
Revealing a contact costs 1 data credit per contact. For example, revealing all 4 contacts at a property spends 4 data credits.
Exporting costs 1 data credit per record, where a property and a contact each count as one record. For example, exporting 10 properties with 1 contact each spends 20 data credits.
Once you've revealed or exported a record, working with it again is free within the same billing period — DealMachine won't charge you a second data credit for the same record.
Your data credits reset every month and don't roll over
Each DealMachine plan includes a set number of data credits per month: Basic 10,000, Pro 20,000, and Scale 100,000. Data credits reset at the start of each billing period and do not roll over — any you don't use are lost, not added to next month.
To see your balance, click your name in the bottom-left corner: DealMachine shows your total data credits, how many remain, and the exact date they reset.
DealMachine has three separate balances
DealMachine uses three separate balances that do not share a pool. The list below shows what each one pays for:
Data Credits — revealing contacts and exporting property or contact data (covered above).
Funds — a prepaid balance for sending direct mail, managed in your Wallet.
AI Credits — power the Copilot AI assistant. AI Credits are a paid-plan feature and are coming soon.
Because these balances are separate, running low on one does not affect the others — for example, being out of data credits does not stop you from sending mail with Funds.
