Import a postcard design into New DealMachine

Bring an existing postcard into the New DealMachine Postcard Designer from a DealMachine Classic design, front/back images, or HTML.

Written by AJ

Use this article to bring a postcard you already have into the Postcard Designer in New DealMachine. You can import a DealMachine Classic design, front and back images, or your own HTML.

Where to find it: Open the Direct Mail app in the left sidebar, go to Postcard Designer, and choose Import.

What you can import

  • A DealMachine Classic design (the design's JSON file).

  • Front and back images of your postcard.

  • HTML for the front and back, up to 2 MB per side. Any scripts in the HTML are removed when you import.

Postcard sizes

Designs can be 4x6 (the default), 6x9, or 6x11, all landscape. Make sure your file matches the size you choose.

How to import a design

  1. In Direct Mail > Postcard Designer, and choose Import.

  2. Choose the postcard size.

  3. Pick what you're importing (Classic design, images, or HTML) and upload the file for each side.

  4. Review the design on the canvas. You can edit layers, switch between the Design, Text, and HTML views, and use the Ask AI tab for changes. Your work saves automatically.

  5. Click Publish.

Important: images are flat

An imported image is a single flat picture. Text inside the image can't be edited, and merge fields (like the owner's name or property address) won't fill in on an image. If you want personalized details, add them as text layers on top of the image in the designer, or import your design as HTML or a Classic design instead.

The print check

When you click publish, DealMachine checks that your design will print correctly. It looks at the safe area, the stamp area, and the address area so nothing important is covered or cut off.

  • Required issues must be fixed before you can publish. Invalid HTML and unsupported merge fields are required fixes.

  • Optional issues are warnings. You can publish without fixing them, but review them first.

Tip: If text near the edge of your back side has been cut off in the past, keep it inside the safe area shown by the print check.
